A toolkit for educators who are looking to use a hands-on, play-based approach to learning

Our Vision

Whether you are a teacher looking to use more hands-on, play-based learning; or a childminder looking for educational activities to keep your little people engaged; or a parent looking to give your child some extra support at home… we have the answer! A range of curriculum-based activity plans and resources to enable you to get the very best from your children by giving them the opportunity to do what they love… play!

Our activity plans and resources are a perfect enhancement to continuous provision, but can also be used as morning activities, extension activities, or as activities to use with a focus group within a lesson or carousel. What’s more, all of our resources are natural and plastic-free, which means you will be doing your bit for the environment too!

What is Teach Kit?

Teach Kit is a toolkit for educators who are looking to use a hands-on, play-based approach to learning. All of our activity plans are linked carefully to the National Curriculum, allowing for independent application of previously taught skills. As our resources and activity cards can be used alongside an adult or independently by children, they work wonderfully in a variety of learning contexts.

They are perfect as an enhancement to continuous provision, but also work equally well as morning activities, extension activities, or as activities to use with a focus group within a lesson or carousel. In addition to this, all of our resources are natural and plastic-free. As well as being super eco-friendly, we believe that using natural resources inspires children’s creativity and imagination as they make the connection with the outdoors and exploration.

Our vision is to equip educators with the knowledge and resources needed to make a success of play-based learning, therefore giving the children in their care the very best education possible. Research proves that children are active learners, who use play to find out about and explore the world. Allowing children the opportunity to learn through the exploration of play not only increases engagement and enjoyment but also develops key characteristics of learning such as independence, confidence, creativity, communication, critical thinking, responsibility, risk-taking, and tenacity.

A Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Lucy and I have been a primary school teacher for 12 years, teaching across both KS1 and KS2. I have always been passionate about embracing children’s creativity, using their imagination and interests in order to engage them with learning. Teach Kit was born as the result of witnessing the hugely positive impact using a hands-on, play-based approach to learning had on the children in my own classroom. As soon as I stepped away from worksheets and really embraced this play-based approach, I saw my children become more enthused and engaged with their learning. I saw both their independence and team-work grow. I saw that they were remembering more and that key skills were becoming embedded as they were given the opportunity to apply their learning. I saw that they were happy and reaching their full potential. I believe all children deserve this opportunity and I therefore feel passionate about enabling other educators to use this approach. So, whether you’re a primary school teacher, a childminder, a home educator, or a parent looking to support your child’s learning… step away from the worksheets and come and join the #playtribe to see your children discover a love of learning!

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” Fred Rogers
